Roxanne Jensen is a Grants Associate for Assel Consulting. She brings a strong background in education to our practice, specifically elementary education, special education, and English language learners.

She has taught English language learners in the Kansas City Public Schools as well as special education in Iowa and Colorado. She is certified in elementary education, early childhood, multi-categorical special education, and linguistically diverse education. She received both her Bachelor’s Degree (BA) in elementary education and special education certification from the University of Northern Iowa in 2002 and 2004 respectively, her Master's Degree (MA) in Linguistically Diverse Education from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs in 2008, and her Educational Specialist (Ed.S) degree in Administration and Leadership from National Louis University in 2013.

Roxanne has experience with managing professional development grants, using data to address the needs of struggling students, and the Response to Intervention process. She has successfully written over 25 grant projects on DonorsChoose for her own classroom, raising over $15,000 for her own classroom, and helped train other teachers to write their own projects. She also has experience with Professional Learning Communities (PLC), Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS), and Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) professional development. Roxanne is a Leading Educators alum and continues to work with other Leading Educators fellows in the Kansas City metro to create and sustain positive change for education in the urban core.
